چکیده

Visua l illusion is the fallacious percep ti on of rea lity or some ac t ua lly existi ng object. In t his paper , we imit at e the mechanism of Ehrenst ein illusion, neon color sp readi ng illnsion , wa te r color illusion, Kanizsa illusion, shifted edg es illusion , and hybrid image illusion using t he O pen Source Comput er Vision Library (OpenCV). We also im itate th ese illusions using Cellular Neu ral Networks (CNNs). T hese imitations suggest th at som e illusions are processed by high-level brain functions. We next ap ply the morphological gradient operation to ano ma lous motion illu sions. The proc essed images are classified into two kinds of images , which correspond to the central dri ft illusion and the peripher al drift illusion, respecti vely. It de monstrat es that the con trast of t he colors plays an important role in the anomalous motion illusion. We also imitate the anomalous motion illusions using bot h OpenCV an d CNN. T hese imitat ions suggest that som e visual illusions may be processed by t he illusory moveme nt of a nimat ions. into seeing. Ownership and Agency of an Independent Supernumerary Hand Induced by an Imitation Brain-Computer Interface

To study body ownership and control, illusions that elicit these feelings in non-body objects are widely used. Classically introduced with the Rubber Hand Illusion, these illusions have been replicated more recently in virtual reality and by using brain-computer interfaces. Traditionally these illusions investigate the replacement of a body part by an artificial counterpart, however as brain-co...

Review and comparison of the Visual Characteristics of Anubanini and Bistoon rock Reliefs

Among the remains of ancient Iranian art, rock reliefs are of particular importance. Anubanini reliefs as the oldest and Bistoon’s as one of the most important examples of these works, besides having a similar subject, which have other symbolic and visual similarities has led many scholars to regard Bistoon reliefs as an imitation of Anubanini reliefs. Despite the importance and similarities of...

Dockerface: an easy to install and use Faster R-CNN face detector in a Docker container

Face detection is a very important task and a necessary pre-processing step for many applications such as facial landmark detection, pose estimation, sentiment analysis and face recognition. Not only is face detection an important pre-processing step in computer vision applications but also in computational psychology, behavioral imaging and other fields where researchers might not be initiated...

Driving Like a Human: Imitation Learning for Path Planning using Convolutional Neural Networks

Human-like path planning is still a challenging task for automated vehicles. Imitation learning can teach these vehicles to learn planning from human demonstration. In this work, we propose to formulate the planning stage as a convolutional neural network (CNN). Thus, we can employ well established CNN techniques to learn planning from imitation. With the proposed method, we train a network for...

Donald D . Hoffman Mimesis and its Perceptual Reflections

In his book Mimesis and its Romantic Reflections, Burwick discusses the potential for deception of the mimetic tradition in literature and the arts, and argues that romantic literature indeed grapples with issues of mimetic representation. His interest in mimesis extends also to visual perception and visual illusions, not solely as these inform literature and the arts, but as a topic of inquiry...
